Jacob Construction & Design, Inc. was the turn-key subcontractor to perform and manage the flooring abatement/replacement of the 3-story Farsi Language School building at POM, CA.Description As the performing subcontractor, it was Jacob Construction & Design’s responsibility to successfully abate/demo out and replace more than 50,000 square feet of flooring within the Farsi language building at DLI, Presidio of Monterey, CA. As the building had three floors, to minimize impact on tenants, project performance was segmented into 3 phases with work efforts placed on one floor at a time. Continuous asbestos sampling was taking before and after demolition of each floor with clearances given prior to installation of any flooring. Demolition of floor tiles, carpet, mastic, and wall base involved thoroughly quarantining work areas until abatement was complete. Once cleared and flooring top layer was removed, JCD proceeded to float the floors and apply new flooring and bases. As this was an Army Corps of Engineers project, there was continuous coordination through multiple inspectors, customers and QCS management system.
