Project Goal

JCD applied filtration to oil in three transformers, Load Tap Changer and main transformer tanks at the primary and operations substations at NAS Lemoore.

JCD was responsible for providing labor, material, equipment, and supervision for (1.) the oil filtration of three transformers in Building 147 and (2.) the oil filtration of the Load Tap Changer and main transformer tank at the Main and Operations Substations in NAS Lemoore. Once extracted, it was decided that the economic choice was to refine the oil rather than discarding it. Therefore, JCD proceeded to process the oil via a portable reprocessing unit. The oil was then returned to the transformers and Tap Changer for normal continued systems operations. This project had to be carefully coordinated with the government given that the entire facility could not be shut down while work was carried out on the 12MVA Transformers. Therefore, given the various hazards and risks that came into play, safety remained at the forefront of all our efforts during the execution of this project.

This project involved

  • Oil Reprocessing
  • Carefully administering lock out/tag-out of high-voltage systems
  • Pre/Post testing of oil
